Wishlist Wednesday #8

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly blog hop hosted by Pen to Paper which allows us to share with you a book each that is on our wishlist, whether it's been on there for a while or just been added. If you'd like to learn more about this meme, check it out here.

It's been a while since we did one of these, but we're getting back into it now!

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Why Chami wants to read The 5th Wave by Ely (because Chami is doing homework). Basically, I (being Ely) freaked out to Chami about this book too much and now she hates me.

Zombies Vs. Unicorns edited by Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier

It's a question as old as time itself: which is better, the zombie or the unicorn? In this anthology, edited by Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier (unicorn and zombie, respectively), strong arguments are made for both sides in the form of short stories. Half of the stories portray the strengths--for good and evil--of unicorns and half show the good (and really, really bad-ass) side of zombies. Contributors include many bestselling teen authors, including Cassandra Clare, Libba Bray, Maureen Johnson, Meg Cabot, Scott Westerfeld, and Margo Lanagan. This anthology will have everyone asking: Team Zombie or Team Unicorn?
I have this new obsession with owning either Maureen Johnson has ever written, and so this seems to be the next one I need to add to my collection. I'm not usually one for anthologies, but I need this one!

  1. Yes, I agree. Chami NEEDS The 5th Wave! I'm sure she'll understand all of the freaking out when she's finished with it. :) I haven't heard of Zombies Vs. Unicorns before, but I might check it out. Though I'm not a huge fan of anthologies either...however, it has a story from Maureen Johnson...and Libba Bray...I think I may share your Maureen Johnson obsession, Ely. Even though I've only read two of her books so far. :)

  3. Both of these sound good. I was looking over the hardcover edition of Zombies vs. Unicorns at the bookstore. The cover is amazing. Have you seen the hardcover? Under the jacket is all of this amazingly fun art. Really good stuff. Enjoy.
