THE FIFTH WAVE PLAYLIST // by Rick Yancey

So, If you have been hiding under a rock you might not know that “The Fifth Wave”, by Rick Yancy is becoming an official book to movie franchise!
The official soundtrack for the movie has not been set in stone so really you can’t blame me for trying to predict (or at least hope) the songs that I believe fit perfectly with the book series. I hope you agree with my choices and of course, if you have any ideas for this fan soundtrack, leave them down in the comments below!

Dreaming by Smallpools
-      Come on. If you don’t feel the post apocalyptic escape sensation that is this song, then there is something wrong with you. This song should be the theme to whole series because it totally gives off the feeling that the world is ending and everyone needs to escape. Every single lyric in the song is “The Fifth Wave.”

Radioactive by Imagine Dragons
-      I know that The Host has already stole this one but seriously, The Fifth Wave is all about “welcome to the new world”

Vagabond by Misterwives
-      Represents Cassie to me. She’s so alone in the world even though she is “pretending to not feel alone” with all the memories she carries.

Hurricane by Ms Mr
-      Also represents Cassie’s state of mind. She has to kill people without blinking as the world has gotten to the point in which that is necessary. I really can’t say anything more without spoiling the series so I am going to have to leave it at that.

The Last Day On Earth – Kate Miller Heidke
-      Remember in the first book how Cassie was all like, “Oh my god I must be the last person in the world”? Well, this kind of brings back those feelings of the loneliness she felt.

Run by Daughter

-      Run, Cassie, Run. They are on to you.

If you have any other suggestions, leave them down below!

Blogaversary Month!

Hey Everyone!

So it has been a while since I’ve posted on the blog. I’m not sure if I have fully explained my situation but i’ll aim to do a post on that very soon! So, as you all probably or hopefully know, this month is Ely and I’s blogaversary!

I am pretty sure that both Ely and I had no idea that this blog would turn into what it has. We started the blog with absolutely no idea about the whole world. In that way, I am glad. Sometimes you just have to throw yourself into something before you realise what it all means.  And then, you have to just trudge on. You kind of have to block everyone out and just make the content. We barely had any views in the beginning and although some people might think we don’t have many now, we both believe that every single little view and comment is basically the whole entire world. We did that and It turned into something wonderful! With the help of you all and the existence of books I don’t know where we would be. But most of all, I would like to thank Ely. Like, for everything.

To have not only an amazing blog partner but a  best friend like Ely is everything.

I don’t know how I could’ve done anything without her. I don’t even have words to describe who she is and what she has done to change me and even all of you. She is just the epitome of amazing. She is someone you can always rely on and will instantly make you feel ten times better. She’s the one you can invest all your secrets in and whine and cry and ball your eyes out about everything between books and all those personal irritable problems. She can also be the person who makes you cry, for example, with the amazing blogaversary post she posted earlier this month. My gosh, I was just gone two seconds into reading that.

Then I have her on here. I’ve been extremely busy with Year 12 and she has been so considerate to help me through out it. She hasn’t blown her fuse once with my extreme business making me unable to post a lot. Truthfully, I don’t think this blog would be running as well as it is if she wasn’t my co blogger! She keeps this alive guys! I feel awfully guilty about that, but once this year is done, I will be back on the roll! *fingers crossed* . So, give her heaps of hugs and kisses!!

So Ely, I love you so so so ridiculously much! I really can’t imagine a world without you present. What’s a world without you, honestly? You mean everything to me and gosh, this is also getting really sappy! I am so thankful to have you as a best friend and I don’t think i could ever repay you for being my best friend. You. Are. Just. Amazing.

Last of all, I just wanted to thank you all again and again for taking time out of your day just to view our blog or pop down a comment below. Nothing ever goes unnoticed and you put the hugest smile on both of our faces.

Love you all
xoxo

Book Description:
17- year- old Ana Maria Tei’s life has always been perfect: loving parents,  good grades, and a future so bright it outshone the sun. But now words like “separation” and “divorce” are sending her world plummeting to hell. Determined to keep her family intact, Ana plans a family-bonding trip from Vienna to Tuscany. Except fate has other plans. Ana’s parents and siblings are killed in a car accident on their way to pick Ana up from school.
Enter Grim, aka Ernest. He promises to relinquish the four souls if Ana agrees to trade her soul for theirs and serve a lifetime as his novice. In order for Ana to graduate from her Reaper’s Novice station to a Soul Collector graduate, Grim puts her to test. To her horror, she finds out becoming a Reaper’s Novice didn’t happen by chance.  It was preordained, and she is forced to make a choice:  save her family’s souls or come to terms with who she really is and complete the task set for her

Excerpt:
My eyes flutter open. I blink. Why do they feel so heavy? My head hurts worse than anything I’ve ever experienced in my life. Ugh, my chest. I glance down to see if someone might have ripped it open while I slept. I look around. What am I doing under this tree? Why are there so many people around? Who the hell is this guy—who’d be attractive if he wasn’t middle aged—staring down at me as if I’m a prize he won in an auction?
I take deep breaths, averting my eyes from the disturbing ones staring at me unblinkingly. I frown as I zoom in on the fire brigade truck, then at the men working diligently on a mess of metal, their expressions solemn, as if on an important mission to save the world. Images flash in my head. I gasp, everything coming into focus.
Mom, Dad, Anton, and Lucy. I spring to my feet, struggling to stay on them as my body sways like sea grass during a storm. My hands shoot out in search of anything that will hold me up. Instead, a hand grips my arm, a firm but gentle hand.
“Ana.” I blink and focus on the dazzling face in front of me.
“Let go of me. I need to get to them. I won’t leave them. I’m going—”
“Ana.” His voice is low and commanding, gentle, calm, and kind. Everything I’m not feeling inside.
I pause, taking deep breaths. “They are not dead! They can’t be dead. Not them.” I jab my finger at his chest.
He doesn’t look fazed. “Who else, if not them? Fate doesn’t care about family. When the time is up, she nicks at the thread,” the man says in the same gentle yet firm voice.
Part of me wants to pound him until he lets go of my arm.I shake my head, my body trembling. “No. It wasn’t. I won’t believe it. We were supposed to travel to Italy. We were supposed to be together. Who are you to tell me what was or wasn’t?” I jerk my arm again, but even holding me loosely, his hand is like a manacle of sorts.
“I’m glad you asked.” He finally drops my arm. For the first time, he beams, his dark eyes lighting up like I just asked one of his favourite questions. “My name is Ernest. Most humans prefer to call me…” he pauses as if weighing what he should say, “Grim or Death. I do not care for either of those names. Why call a spoon a spoon? So mundane. Better upgrade it to a spade. Even the spoon will thank you for it.”
