Divergent and The Fault In Our Stars CATASTROPHE

I’ve been sitting here for a couple of days feuding with the thought that Hazel Grace, Augustus Waters, Beatrice prior and Caleb Prior are all played by the same actors. And you’re thinking, “What! What are you talking about Chami? Your nuts!” Well aside from the Vampire Academy casting news frenzy, the break up of my favourite celebrity couple (Ian and Nina), the casting for Divergent and Fault In Our Stars is underway as well. And if you hadn’t heard, Shaileene Woodly will be playing Tris Prior from Divergent and Hazel Grace from The Fault in our stars. And when that was announced, I went berserk thinking why they would cast the same actress for two Young Adult massive series as the main character for both. And adding to that, I’m not a massive Shaileene Woodly Acting fan, but I do respect her morals and her choices she has clearly fixed onto her self. I got over that little mistake, and just as I’ve settled down they’ve decided to announce another catastrophe. Ansel Elgort, who is playing Caleb Prior (Tris’ bro) will be playing Augustus Waters. Two Main Characters. DO YOU HEAR THAT FANS? THIS CANNOT HAPPEN. I disagree with this. Immensely. I’m sure the Directors of both movies know what they are doing, but do they realise what they are doing to the fans? It’s like making Daniel Radcliffe play Percy Jackson as well as Harry Potter. I’m 
just thankful that “The Fault in Our Stars” is 
not an ongoing series because that would cause some mass confusion. Like, “Hey, when did Hazel start jumping out of Trains?” and “Gus, where did you get that gun from?” Tough tough times, I tell ya. If I had to choose, I would settle on Shaileene playing Hazel and Ansel playing Caleb. I don’t know much about Ansel, and I don’t like Shaileene as an actress. We’ll just have to wait for the trailer because I seriously wasn’t impressed by the Divergent stills. She had no emotion on her face and looked nothing like Tris. (Quite frankly, Tris looks like a younger version of Veronica Roth to me…haha)Cross your fingers fans. Lets just hope this works.

Bout of Books Read-a-thon Day #3

Unfortunately, yesterday was another busy day for me- I had the first part of an essay to write in English class that I am to finish this Friday so most of my morning (when I usually try to fit a little bit of reading in before class) was taken up. Of course, I had a little time for reading anyway! Also, I’ve managed to break a couple rules of mine- I borrowed some books from the library that weren’t on my list for this week, or my TBR for this month and I started to read them! Bout of Books Read-a-thon Day #2

Today turned out to be a much better day for me in terms of reading. While I was busy with school, I did manage to slip a few minutes of reading here and there into my busy schedule. Day number one of the Bout of Books Read-a-thon turned out to be a much busier day than I had originally expected- rather than spending my day off from school reading, I ended up spending almost the entire day writing essays for class and sending e-mails to my teachers. REVIEW: The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse

Review: ‘The Winter Ghosts’, to put it quite simply, isn’t at all the type of book that we usually review here on ABookSoFathomless, nor is it a book that I would generally even pick up, but maybe one or two years ago a really lovely friend of mine told me about the book ‘Sepulchre’ by Kate Mosse and how she had loved the book, and therefore I decided that I wanted to read something by Kate Mosse to see whether my friend was right or not. And well...she definitely was.

From the first page, this book captivated my attention and drew me into the chilling world of Freddie Watson in the French mountains. To be quite honest, this book features two of my absolute ‘go-to’ things in a novel- set in a time between 1914-1945 and set in France, how could you possibly go wrong with a combination like that? One of the best things for me was how everything was described so wonderfully, it actually felt like I was walking with Freddie through the woods in the snow which was both amazing and haunting.  The illustrations just added to this factor- they were honestly amazing and helped further cement the image inside my head.

Even more than the setting, Mosse’s prose was amazing. I found that it just flowed off the page beautifully and it fit the story so well as it changed with the different tones and moments within the book. The story itself was amazing too- I’ll admit that it didn’t go in the direction that I was expecting at all, I expected a mystery but what I got was just so much better than just a mystery.

I really enjoyed ‘The Winter Ghosts’, especially as a nice little break from the usual YA books that I read so I’d definitely suggest that you all give this book a go if you’re looking for something a little different.
